Falconets goalkeeper Effiong Bright Etim has expressed strong confidence in Nigeria’s readiness for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, saying the team is about 95 per cent prepared for the tournament.
Etim spoke after the Falconets played out a 1-1 draw against South Korea in their final friendly match before opening their campaign.
“We are 95 percent ready,” Etim said, stressing that the players remain determined to keep pushing themselves ahead of the competition.
The goalkeeper said the Falconets have set their own target for the tournament and are fully focused on achieving it.
“We are ready and will keep pushing ourselves,” she added.
The draw against South Korea was Nigeria’s final tune-up before the World Cup, giving the team an opportunity to assess its preparations and make final adjustments before competitive action begins.
The Falconets will now turn their attention to their opening fixture against Spain on Monday, with coach Moses Aduku also declaring his players ready for the challenge.
Etim believes the team’s confidence and determination will be important as Nigeria begins its campaign, with the players eager to translate their preparations into strong performances on the world stage.
“We have our own target, and we are focused on achieving it,” the goalkeeper said.
With the friendly schedule now completed, the Falconets are expected to shift their full attention to Spain as they begin their quest for success in Poland.
