Female Handball U18 Team To Get New Structure

Nigeria’s female under-18 handball national team is bound to get a new structure, mentality and approach in the coming months, if the words of the latest gaffer in charge, Yusuf Abdulkadir are anything to go by.

Sports247.ng gathered that Abdulkadir is already talking in enthusiastic terms, after being confirmed as new head coach of the team by Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN).

Abdulkadir, who is also coach of Plateau Peacock of Jos, will be assisted by Esther Lambert for the 2019 IHF Challenge in Niamey, Niger Republic from 25th February to 3rd March.

As he commences duty, the National Sports Festival gold medalist promised to put in place structures that will discover and nurture more talented young players from the cadet level to junior and senior teams.

While calling for support from stakeholders in handball and praying for God’s support, the former Plateau Vipers star promised to build a solid team that will make Nigerians proud on the global scale.

Abdulkadir said: “I am hungry for success and want to succeed in this assignment given to me by the handball federation.

“My target upon resumption is to see how I will groom the players and prepare their mind ahead of African and International championships.

“I will build on the existing structure, adding my little professionalism because Nigeria possesses very good coaches and technical crews.

“I am praying to God to pilot my ways as I resume duties with the girls, bring them together to achieve the goal of developing handball.

“(We want to) qualify for the World Cup and perform excellently well and make them believe they can conquer the world.”
