Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ofili delivered a standout performance at the 2025 ATX Classic in Texas, clocking a blistering new Personal Best (PB) of 10.87 seconds (+1.9 m/s) to dominate her 100m heat and send a strong message ahead of the global athletics season.
Ofili, who continues to rise as one of Africa’s top sprinters, finished comfortably ahead of American sprinter Kayla White, who settled for second place with 11.07s. The performance marks Ofili’s fastest time over the distance and underscores her growing consistency on the professional circuit.

Another Nigerian, Rosemary Chukwuma, also made headlines by winning her own heat in 10.93s, albeit with a strong wind reading of +3.9 m/s, making the time ineligible for record purposes. Nonetheless, she beat a quality field, including Olympic bronze medallist Gabby Thomas (USA), to underline the depth in Nigeria’s women’s sprinting.
Meanwhile, Success Umukoro held her own in a competitive section, finishing third with a time of 11.43s (+2.3 m/s), further signaling Nigeria’s growing sprint presence on the international stage.
These performances come at a crucial time as athletes gear up for the World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games qualifications, and they boost Nigeria’s hopes of reliving its golden era in women’s sprinting.
With Ofili leading the charge and Chukwuma hot on her heels, Nigeria’s sprint team looks poised for a promising summer.
