Nigeria’s current men’s 100m national champion, Favour Ashe is already thinking of winning the gold medal on offer at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, as he declared that he wants to get good results in the semi-finals and final of the glamour event.
Sports247 reports that Ashe, who hails from Delta State, was beaming with delight after winning his heat with a time of 10.10 seconds on Monday, but declared that he aims to get a btetter time during the semi-finals on Tuesday, where he will again run in Heat 1.
Ashe made the best of his placement in Heat 1 at the start of track and field events, as well as para-athletics contests, at Glasgow 2026, where he disclosed that the terrain was conducive for smooth running that can yield fast finishes at the tape.
The number two ranked Nigerian sprinter at the ongoing Games also stated sheer delight over his victory, while enthusing that the smooth tracks at the stadium in Glasgow will help him enact a better result on Tuesday, then go on to do even better in the final and become Nigeria’s first men’s 100m winner.
“I’m happy. My coach told me what to execute and I did it. I want to do more in the semis and final. The track looks fast and I love Glasgow,” said Ashe, who is one of three Nigerian men in Tuesday’s 100m semi-finals, which will also feature Kanyisola Ajayi and Nicholas Fakorede Adekalu.
