Nigerian sprint sensation Favour Ashe continued his resurgence on the European circuit with a commanding performance at the International Meeting Anhalt in Dessau, Germany, clocking a Season’s Best of 10.11s (+1.4) to win his 100m heat on Friday.
Ashe, who has been steadily building momentum this season, showed a glimpse of his trademark explosive start and finishing power to hold off home favourite Kevin Kranz of Germany, who placed second in 10.22s.

Fellow Nigerian sprinter Fola Olaoye also impressed, finishing third in 10.28s in a tightly contested heat.
The win marks Ashe’s fastest time this year and sets him up as a strong contender heading into the final later in the evening.
It also comes as a confidence boost ahead of key international engagements, including the African Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympics, where Nigeria will be hoping to make a strong statement in the sprints.
Both Ashe and Olaoye are expected to feature in the 100m final, with Nigerian fans keeping a close eye on their performances as the build-up to Paris intensifies.
