Falcons, Spain Friendly Yet To Get Date, Venue

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are battling hard to get a date and venue for a proposed international friendly between the female national team, Super Falcons and Spain’s women’s squad.

Sports247.ng gathered that, although the game is tentatively billed to hold between April 2nd and 9th, an exact date and venue are yet to be stated for what would be another high profile clash for the Falcons against a top rate European team.

The Falcons have often found the going trough against various European opposition, as was seen in recent outings at invitational competitions in China and Cyprus, where they lost 4-1 to Austria and 1-0 to Belgium.

However, the team equally picked victories against Romania (4-1) in China and Slovakia (4-3) in Cyprus, to suggest better days ahead of them, as they prepare to battle France and Norway in Group A of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Memory, though, is fresh over a 8-1 humbling handed the Falcons by France in a friendly early last year, such that Coach Thomas Dennerby is in search of adequate European tests before heading out to the Female Mundial this summer.

That has formed the basis for the fixture arrangement against Spain, only that the NFF now appear in a race against time to fix a specific date and venue for the proposed match against La Femeni Armada.
