Representing Mississippi State (hailstatetf), Fakorede showed his intentions from the outset, easing through the heats in 6.80s before stepping up a gear when it mattered most.

The Nigerian speedster exploded out of the blocks in the final, maintaining his composure and power through the drive phase to lower his time significantly and finish second overall.

The performance not only marked a strong start to his indoor campaign but also underlined Fakorede’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s most exciting short-distance prospects on the U.S. collegiate circuit.

A 6.74s opener at this stage of the season suggests there is more to come as he sharpens up toward the championship phase.

With this statement run, Fakorede has firmly announced himself for the 2026 indoor season, setting the tone for what could be a breakthrough year and putting his name on the radar for bigger meets ahead.
