Sporting Lagos have appealed to their supporters to remain committed to the club following the postponement of their highly anticipated Lagos Derby against Ikorodu City.
The NPFL fixture, originally scheduled for Sunday, September 6, has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 30, with Sporting Lagos assuring supporters that full matchday details will be communicated once confirmed, Sports247 gathered.

In a message to their fans, the club acknowledged the disappointment caused by the change, particularly after supporters had eagerly anticipated the return of top-flight football and the opportunity to witness a Lagos derby at home.
“Sporting faithful, we had really been looking forward to Sunday,” the club stated, recalling the significance of returning to the NPFL after fighting their way back to the top flight.
Sporting Lagos also confirmed that supporters who have already purchased tickets for the postponed fixture will not lose out, as their tickets will remain valid for the club’s next weekend home game. The affected supporters will also be contacted directly by the club.
Despite the setback, Sporting Lagos have urged their fans to turn their attention to another significant fixture.
The club will face Inter Lagos on Sunday, September 13, at Onikan, in what will now become the first meeting in a decade between two Lagos clubs in Nigeria’s top flight.
Although Sporting Lagos will be the away side for the encounter, the club believes the significance of the occasion should bring supporters together.
“Home or away does not change what this game means. It is still Sunday. It is still Onikan. It is still a Lagos derby. Let’s make it special,” Sporting Lagos said.
The club further thanked its supporters for their continued commitment, stressing that passionate fans are essential to building a stronger Nigerian football league.
