Abia Warriors’ utility player, Wilson Elu, has expressed confidence ahead of their Matchday 8 encounter against El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, insisting that the Umuahia-based side is fully focused on securing all three points on Sunday.
Speaking with the club’s media team, Elu downplayed concerns about fatigue following their hectic schedule that saw them play two away fixtures within four days — a victory in Ilorin and a defeat in Enugu.

“As professionals, we wouldn’t want to make excuses for fatigue and all that. Yes, there’s a case for that, but as professionals, we are focused on the job at hand, which is to get the job done on Sunday by defeating El-Kanemi Warriors. We are prepared one hundred percent,” Elu stated confidently.
The versatile midfielder further emphasized the team’s resilience and forward-thinking mindset under head coach Bethel Orji, noting that they have quickly moved on from the loss to Rangers International.
“Our gaffer inculcated in us a progressive mentality, and so once a game is done and dusted, we move on to the next one. We will not dwell on the Enugu Rangers defeat — our focus is on the El-Kanemi game,” he added.
Statistically, Abia Warriors have averaged 0.7 goals scored and 0.6 conceded per game, while El-Kanemi Warriors boast slightly better numbers with 0.9 goals scored and 0.7 conceded.
After seven matches, Abia Warriors sit 4th on the NPFL table with 12 points, while El-Kanemi Warriors trail closely in 7th position with 11 points — setting up what promises to be a tightly contested fixture at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The encounter is scheduled for Sunday, October 12, 2025, with kickoff at 4:00 pm.
