The organiser of the two-day Goalkeeping Clinic and End-of-Year Jamboree, Elportero Academy, has expressed strong satisfaction with the impressive turnout of young, aspiring goalkeepers from Lagos and Ogun States, describing the event as a major boost for grassroots football development.
Speaking with Director of Elportero Academy, Soji Ojeleye, revealed that over 100 young and talented goalkeepers participated in the programme, a development he described as both overwhelming and encouraging.
“The turnout was massive. We had more than 100 young goalkeepers from Lagos and Ogun States alone, and that gives us every reason to celebrate. It shows that the future of goalkeeping, which many consider a troubled department of football, is actually very bright,” Ojeleye said.
He further disclosed that beyond the numbers, the level of participation, discipline, enthusiasm, and commitment displayed by the young goalkeepers throughout the two-day clinic was highly inspiring, reinforcing the academy’s belief in sustained grassroots investment.
Ojeleye also used the opportunity to commend the invited coaches whose professionalism and technical input added significant value to the programme. Among those acknowledged were Coach Femi Thomas of Ikorodu City FC, Coach Udeze Stephen of Smart City FC, Coach John Dosu of Sporting Supreme FC, Abuja, Coach Onaolapo Biodun of Real Sapphire FC, Lagos, Coach Abayomi of Elportero Academy, Coaches Taiwo and Kehinde Ojeleye, and Coach Oloyede Biola Muttaleb.
According to him, the coaches’ wealth of experience, dedication, and passion for goalkeeper development left a lasting impression on all participants and greatly contributed to the overall success of the clinic and jamboree.
He also expressed deep appreciation to individuals and organisations who supported the programme both financially and physically, noting that their generosity, sacrifice, encouragement, and behind-the-scenes efforts played a critical role in making the event memorable.
In conclusion, Ojeleye described the two-day clinic as a successful step toward building a solid foundation for future goalkeepers in Nigeria, while reaffirming Elportero Academy’s commitment to nurturing young talents and strengthening grassroots football development.
