The Deputy Zonal Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Eden Akpa Uchen has described the ongoing SWAN Security Cup as welcome development in promoting inter-agency collaboration and teamwork in the fight against corruption.
Mr Akpa stated this while speaking with Sports Journalists after watching his team’s 2-1 win over Nigerian Correctional Centre in the opening game of the 5th SWAN Security Cup played at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena Kuto Abeokuta.

Fashina Adeola had put the Correctional male football team ahead in the 2nd minutes before a brace from Mahadi Abdullahi in the 32nd and 42nd minutes gave the EFCC the deserved victory.
Describing the football match as a celebration of their collaboration and a testament to the importance of teamwork in the fight against corruption, Mr Akpa said the NCoS provided custodial services to individuals convicted of corruption-related offenses, while the EFCC investigates and prosecutes such cases.
The EFCC Deputy Zonal Director expressed confidence that his team would emerge victorious, but emphasized that the true essence of the tournament was to foster relationships and promote teamwork.
“By engaging in friendly competition, agencies can build relationships, share best practices, and enhance their collective efforts in combating corruption” Mr Akpa said
In other matches played, the Road Safety football team thrashed the defending champions, Nigeria Customs Service by four goals to nothing with Fatai Rasheed scoring the four goals.
The Police Machine beat their perennial rival, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, by four goals to three in a thrilling and entertaining encounter.
