Edo State director of sports, Sunny Airende has declared that the state’s contingent will do well at the upcoming 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, sports247.ng reports.
Although he refused to state which exact position he expects the team to achieve at FCT 2018, Airende said the contingent will stay among the top unit.
He revealed further that Edo State will present a contingent that will compete in 30 events at the festival, from December 6 to 16.
Airende added that no fewer than 350 athletes will represent the state at the festival and expressed optimism that they will do well.
He stressed that preparation of the state contingent is on course, as the athletes have been in camp for over a week and they will enter the final phase next week.
Airende revealed: “Our athletes have begun intensive camping and, with what I have seen of them, we are going to do very well in Abuja.
“I can’t tell the position Edo will occupy in Abuja at the end of the sports festival, but I can readily tell you that we will be within the unit.”
