The Nigerian champions continued to apply pressure and were rewarded again shortly before the interval when Tarnum Dooshima found the back of the net in the 41st minute to double their lead.

ASEC Mimosas responded after the break and managed to reduce the deficit, putting Edo Queens under pressure as the Ivorian champions searched for a way back into the contest.

However, Edo Queens remained composed and eventually restored their two-goal advantage through Oluebube Umejiaku, who completed the scoring to seal a 3-1 triumph. The victory comes on the back of Edo Queens’ emphatic opening-day performance against AS GNN of Niger, making it another strong statement from the Nigerian champions in the tournament.

Under head coach Kennedy Boboye, Edo Queens have demonstrated both attacking quality and the ability to manage difficult moments, maintaining their momentum as the competition intensifies. The result is particularly significant given the importance of the fixture, with ASEC Mimosas entering the encounter needing a positive result after their opening defeat to Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

Edo Queens, meanwhile, have now put themselves in a strong position ahead of their final group-stage assignment against Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

With another three points secured, the Nigerian champions can now turn their attention to the final group fixture, knowing that the ultimate objective remains qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League proper.

The players’ confidence will be high after another convincing display, but the technical crew will be aware that the decisive stages of the tournament will demand even greater concentration and consistency. Another game, another statement. Edo Queens continue their march — and the album tour rolls on.
