Eddy Dombraye shares why he took to coaching

Former Nigeria international Eddy Dombraye has come out to compare football now and football during his day of playing.

The former flying eagles player also shared his reason for going into coaching instead of player manager which he considered after his playing days.

Speaking to sports247 in an exclusive interview, Dombraye opened up what inspired him to go into coaching “I can’t really pinpoint what aspired me to go into coaching exactly. Rather I will say for the love of the game and I still want to be in the game. Not as football agent but somebody who is actively involved in the game. So that’s why I went into coaching.” Dombraye told Sports247

The former Super Eagles invitee also tried to compare playing football in his playing days and playing football now. Both standard are really not the same, he explained, as games are faster and more scientific now. “For the standard of the game now. I think the game has really changed a lot. It’s faster, more scientific”

As a former flying eagles player, Dombraye compared the chances of young players now with that of young players during his days. As he was in the opinion that young players get more chances and opportunities in modern day football.

“and young players are given the opportunity now. But those days, you will really have to work for it yourself. It has really changed a lot. In those days there were few agents but now we have a lot of them. ” Dumbraye concluded.

Eddy Dombraye played for Nigeria at the 1999 FIFA World Youth Championship finals hosted in Nigeria. Before that he debuted for the Super Eagles as a substitute in a 1998 African Cup of Nations qualification game against Burkina Faso
