Don’t compare me with Ighalo, Osimhen warns

Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has modestly admitted that retired Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, achieved a lot for the national team and it would be unfair to place him (Osimhen), on the same platform with the 2019 AFCON hero.

Osimhen was quick to play down at the flooding comments comparing him with the former Super Eagles goal poacher, calling such comparisons ‘disrespectful’.

”He is a legend like everyone of us are saying, I spoke to him about it and he gave me some candid advice which has been helping me, not just in the national team and also in my club, he reiterated.

The former Watford man was also Africa’s finest goalscorer with 7 goals during the qualifying series for that event and Osimhen is not unaware of the huge gap he has to fill with the early national retirement of Ighalo .

Ighalo helped Nigeria claim a bronze medal at the continental championships hosted by Egypt earlier in the year, emerging the tournament’s top goalscorer with 5 goals to his name.

”There is no comparison between me and Ighalo, what he has done for the national team is far from what anybody can compare me and him with’’, he said.

Osimhen who is in a blistering form currently plies his trade with Lille in the ligue1 after joining them in the summer. He also registered a goal to his name in the Super Eagles clash against Benin.
