Donovan Ezeiruaku Sent Off In NFL’s American Football League Encounter

Nigerian-born American Football star, Donovan Ezeiruaku got marching orders from officials in USA’s National Football League (NFL), as the Dallas Cowboys’ defensive end was adjudged with unsporting conduct.

Sports247 reports that Ezeiruaku’s ill-fated evening came during his side’s fixture with New York Giants on Sunday, as he got into an altercation in the second half and ripped off an opposing player’s helmet.

Although details of the eruption were sketchy, Ezeiruaku’s side ended up losing 34-17, as the game went haywire early in the third quarter, after Jaxson Dart hit Tyrone Tracy in the back of the end zone.

Dart’s run for a 13-yard touchdown extended The Giants’ lead in the regular-season finale, but Ezeiruaku and New York’s guard, Greg Van Roten were both reportedly at the centre of the fracas.

Ezeiruaku held Van Roten’s helmet and ripped it off his head, which led to more flags thrown in, as other players ran into the pile and the Nigerian-born defensive player was ejected from the contest after that.

Cowboys defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty for his role and, though it looked like Van Roten grabbed Sam Williams’ facemask early on, he was not penalized.

Ezeiruaku, who finished his rookie season with 40 total tackles and two sacks, had one tackle before he was sent off in Sunday’s game at MetLife Stadium.

Sports247 gathered further that the 22-year-old Ezeiruaku had been selected by The Cowboys in the second round of the NFL draft last spring straight out of Boston College.
