Dolphins Court Set To Host Grand Finale of 2025 Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship

All eyes are on the Dolphins Basketball Court in Onipetesi, Lagos, as it prepares to host the highly anticipated finals of the 2025 Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship scheduled for June 28–29.

The championship, which brings together 18 top institutions from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, was initially scheduled to take place at the National Stadium in Lagos but was relocated to Dolphins Court due to weather concerns.

After weeks of intense zonal qualifiers involving over 100 higher institutions, the finalists have emerged, promising thrilling 3×3 basketball action.

From the North West, Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University, Kano earned their spots, while FUT Minna, IBB University, Lapai, and College of Education, Minna will fly the flag for the North Central.

The North East will be represented by three Yola-based institutions—College for Legal Studies, Federal College of Education, and American University of Nigeria.

From the South West, powerhouse schools like Obafemi Awolowo University, Lead City University, and LAUTECH will compete. Meanwhile, the South East sends Caritas University, IMT Enugu, and UNN Nsukka, with UNIBEN, AAU Ekpoma, and Dennis Osadebay University completing the lineup for the South South.

Speaking ahead of the finals, Olumide Oyedeji, founder of the championship and board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), expressed confidence in delivering the best 3×3 basketball experience in the country.

“This championship is not just about basketball—it’s about building a culture. Nigeria must take its place in the global 3×3 basketball revolution, and this is a strong step in that direction,” Oyedeji said.

With high stakes and national pride on the line, basketball fans across Nigeria are set for a showcase of emerging talents and intense competition as the championship reaches its climax this weekend in Lagos.
