Delta Queens Hockey Team Secures Bronze at Africa Club Championship in Malawi

Impressive Performance Highlights Delta Queens' Success

The Delta Queens Hockey team has returned to Nigeria after a commendable display at the Africa Club Championship held in Malawi.

The team showcased their prowess by securing a third-place finish in the seven-team event, defeating the home side, Genetrix, with an impressive scoreline of 10-0.

Throughout the tournament, Delta Queens played a total of six games, clinching victory in four, drawing one, and suffering one defeat.

Their remarkable performance placed them in contention with formidable clubs from other Eastern African countries.

Coach Adeoye Jacobs expressed satisfaction with her team’s resilience and performance against strong opposition. While reflecting on the competition, she mentioned, “It was a great competition for us, and it added to our experience as a team.

If not for the head-to-head decision, we ought to have played in the final. My girls learned a lot, and that is the benefit of competition. Hopefully, we aim to do better by bringing home the trophy next time.”
