Sports247 reports that Ndidi will on Monday morning head back to Istanbul after captaining Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Cup in Morocco, where the squad won the third place match with a 4-2 win over Egypt via penalties on Saturday.

Although Ndidi could not play that game in Casablanca, as he was ruled out on account of accumulated yellow cards, he was on the sidelines to see FC Paris of France winger, Moses Simon skipper the side to a scoreless finish at regulation time.

Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali then became the hero, as he stopped the kicks of Egypt’s England-based duo of Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush to give Nigeria their record extending ninth AFCON bronze medal.

That means Ndidi will return to Besiktas with a bronze medal in his bag and find out that one of his new teammates is Alaba, who was born in Austria to a Nigerian father and a Philippines mum.

The media across Europe is already abuzz with vibrant reports that Alaba could become Ndidi’s next teammate, following reports that Besiktas’ top brass have already sealed a deal with him.

Consequently, though the former Bayern Munich of Germany left-footed star is also said to be wanted by Fiorentina of Italy, Ndidi’s club have opened talks with his current team, Real Madrid of Spain.

The report by Fanatik added, “The veteran Austria defender is coming off contract this season and won’t be offered new terms by Real Madrid.

“Knowing Alaba is also attracting interest from the MLS’s New York City FC, Besiktas have stepped up their plans for him this week.

“The Black Eagles are eager to secure Alaba’s commitment as quickly as possible to help their planning for next season.

“Further, getting his signature on a contract would end competition for the experienced defender, who is also wanted by Saudi Pro League clubs for next season.”
