Danjuma Groeneveld Misses £9m AC Milan Deal

Club Brugge of Belgium’s Nigerian-born winger, Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld has missed out on a deal that could have fetched him £9m at AC Milan of Italy, as his club top shots opted not to accept the offer.

Sports247.ng gathered that, although Danjuma appeared inclined to hop off to join The Rossoneri, Brugge’s egg heads thought differently, even as more offers are said to be dangling round the youngster.

The 21-year-old forward, who has opted to play for Holland at senior level, instead of Nigeria, caught Milan’s eye during the UEFA Champions League with Brugge, but could not help them into the knock out stage.

His impressive displays also ignited the interest of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Everton in the English Premier League, but it was only Milan that tabled a formal offer and had their bid of £9m rejected.

The 21 year-old only moved to Belgium last summer from NEC Nijmegen, but his impact has attracted interest from across Europe.

Manchester City were also initially keen on Danjuma, who left NEC in the summer for a cut-price €1m and has scored five times, plus four assists, in 15 official matches for Brugge.

Sadly, Danjuma bowed out action in October due to an ankle injury, but he has already won two caps for the Netherlands and many observers of the round leather game are hailing his massive potential.

Brugge, though, may have to start cashing in on him due to the growing interest in the youngster, who made his debut for Holland last year and scored his first goal in his second appearance – a 1-1 draw with Belgium.
