Crown FC of Ogbomoso roared back to form in spectacular fashion, thrashing Stormers FC 5–2 in their third group match at the 13th Gold Cup Preseason Tournament at the Ebedei Stadium, Sagamu, to reignite their campaign with a statement performance.
Following a disappointing loss to Lobi Stars on Matchday Two, the Ajilete Warriors responded with aggression, confidence, and tactical precision — traits that defined their emphatic display under coach Ayodeji Ayeni.

The Ogbomoso side wasted no time asserting dominance, as Samuel Oyedeji opened the scoring in the 15th minute after a crisp attacking build-up. Osas Kelvin doubled the lead 13 minutes later, before Onyeka Nwaiwu capitalized on defensive confusion to make it 3–0 before halftime — sealing a first-half masterclass that showcased their attacking fluidity.
Coach Ayeni’s tactical shuffle in the second half paid off once again. Substituting Nwaiwu for Adekunle Mojeed injected renewed energy into the front line. Mojeed immediately made his presence felt, setting up Oyedeji for his second goal in the 60th minute.
Veteran striker Ebenezer Odeyemi added the fifth from the penalty spot, underscoring Crown FC’s ruthlessness before Stormers FC pulled two late consolation goals in the 65th and 77th minutes.
Coach Ayeni hailed his players for their composure, discipline, and response to the previous defeat.
“The boys showed character today. It wasn’t just about scoring goals; it was about rediscovering our rhythm, confidence, and belief as a team,” he said post-match.
Fans and analysts were quick to applaud the team’s fluid movement, sharp coordination, and high-pressing approach — all signs that Crown FC are finding their identity again under Ayeni’s leadership.
With two wins from three games, Crown FC now shift focus to their next fixture against Ekiti United, scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow, as they look to maintain momentum and secure a strong finish in the group stage.
The victory not only lifted spirits in the Crown FC camp but also sent a clear message to their rivals — the Ajilete Warriors are back, hungry, and ready to fight for glory.
