COVID19: AMUNIKE SENDS WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

Former African footballer of the year, Emmanuel Amunike has joined numerous sports stars in their wild appeal to join hands together and commonly fight the deadly enemy that poses threat to human existence.

More and more cases of infected persons of corona virus around the world are being recorded every hour. As it stands, more than 975,000 cases have been reported and more than 49,000 deaths have also been recorded from COVID 19.

Amunike pleads for solidarity to conquer this enemy called corona virus. Information gotten by sports247 in a recent broadcast by the former Golden Eaglet gaffer sees him throwing words of encouragement to Nigerians and the world at large.

In his words ” I want to encourage you with this speech of mine at this difficult time that the whole world is facing this pandemic called corona virus that is affecting human race. I want you all to believe that collectively we can overcome this difficult time… ” Amunike said.

The 1996 Olympic football gold medalist urges fans to see the light at the end of the tunnel amidst this trying times “…as you all are aware that after the rain comes the son… ” Amunike strongly believes that we all can win this. It is a war. One common enemy. And for us to defeat the enemy, then coorporation is highly needed.

It could be recalled that Amunike, in his playing days, won the African footballer of the year award. He played as a winger for the super eagles for years and made immense contributions in Nigerian’s campaign in her maiden appearance in the World Cup in 1994, Scoring the third goal in the opening match against Bulgaria and later in the competition against Roberto Baggio inspired Italy.

He helped the supper eagles win the 1994 African cup of nations in Tunisia. The former Zamalek of Egypt, Sporting PC of Portugal, and FC Barcelona of Spain attacker was the coach of Nigeria’s under 17 team that won the World Cup in 2015. And in 2018, he was appointed coach of the Tanzania national football team.
