Comrade Asogwa Expresses Confidence For Successful 4×4 Handball Championship, IRT Referees’ Course In Enugu

South-East zonal representative on the board of Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), Comrade Emmanuel Onyebuchi Asogwa has expressed confidence that the upcoming championship and referees’ course in Enugu will be a huge success.

Sports247 reports that Asogwa is already looking eagerly towards the dual event in The Coal City, where Enugu State Ministry of Youth And Sports Development is set to stage the programme in collaboration with the zonal representative.

The programme, which is scheduled to hold from 7th to 11th of July, will also have support from Zone 1 of the National Sports Commission (NSC), under the official tag of 4×4 Handball Championship & IRT Referee Training Course.

Asogwa disclosed further that the programme at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium will attract teams, referees, coaches and handball enthusiasts from across the country for five days of exciting competition and technical development.

He expressed confidence that it will be a resounding success, considering the high level of preparations already put in place, while noting that the participating teams are eager to showcase their talents and leave lasting impressions behind.

The erudite administrator, who is also the chairman of Enugu State Handball Association, revealed further that Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has given full support to ensure a successful hosting of the championship and referees training.

“With the championship and the referees’ education track running together, we expect the combined initiative to serve as a springboard for identifying fresh talent, boosting involvement and raising overall quality of officiating across the region.

“This is driven in particular through the referees’ training component. The initiative has backing from Enugu State governor, Barrister Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as well as from the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, Jibril O. Saidu.

“The championship also reflects the federation’s broader effort to expand handball development nationwide, guided by the themes of innovation, capacity building, inclusiveness and direct boost to grassroots handball in the South East.

“While offering players, coaches and officials a chance to sharpen their abilities and help drive the sport’s continued growth, the championship will further enhance and promote grassroots handball development,” Asogwa enthused.

Sports247 gathered further that the organisers expect to see improvements in the standard of officiating through the IRT Referee Training Course, while also reinforcing Enugu State’s growing reputation as a hub for sporting excellence in Nigeria.
