Commitment Of The State FA To Grassroots, Spurs Me To Action – Chief Usman

A football lover and a crusader of youths development on the Plateau, Chief Ephraim Usman says Plateau State Football Association’s all out efforts to return grassroots football to where it used to be and where it ought to be,has forced him to contribute his own little quota by sponsoring and organizing a grassroot competition in his local government area,Kanam LGA, which will go round the State in no time.

According to Chief Ephraim Usman: “I must give kudos to what the Sunday Samson Longbap headed PFA are doing as it concerns grassroots development. From the various grassroots competitions in the state from where many young players are now playing professional football both in Nigeria and abroad, people don’t understand how far this has gone to promote peace and reduce crisis on the Plateau. And couple with the way the PFA has given enabling environment to the growth of the game to all and sundry, and the mass followership the game now has in the state, motivate me to contribute even from my lean purse to the growth of the game.”

Usman is the sponsor of the Chief Ephraim Usman Peace Football Tournament in Kanam LGA that started in January but had to be postponed due to the pandemic and hence, the ban on contact sports.

Jigab United fc who defeated favourites, Kingyal United 1-0 in the semi final, will meet another hard nut to crack, Sheyi fc in the final initially slated for 29th August at Kingyal Primary School, Gar Dengi, Dengi, in Kanam LGA of Plateau State.

Some big teams in the local government area like Jigab Utd fc, Sheyi FC, Kingyal United fc, Kazai United fc, Pigurdi United, Gar Pada fc, Mararaba fc, Gwiti fc, among others participated from the group stage.

It would be recalled that the Plateau State Football Association just revived both the State league and the Plateau State Female league by setting up committees to see to the success of these competitions slated to kick off immediately the ban on contact sports is lifted.
