A football loving clergyman based in the Kingdom of Eswatini, Pastor Victor Macdonald has boldly stepped forward in support of a single day football carnival in memory of late grassroots tactician, Osahon Emokpae.

Sports247 gathered that Pastor Macdonald, who, as a players’ agent, brokered overseas deals for ex-internationals, Paul Obiefule and Perpetua Nkwocha, opted to sponsor prizes for the carnival’s best goalkeeper, highest goal scorer and most valuable player.
The philanthropic pastor said he made the gesture because he remembers how the late Coach Emokpae worked dutifully for him for over eight years, and he never had any reason to find the tactician wanting at any point during their time together.
“He was such a humble man,” Macdonald recounted. “He was very good at what he was doing, but never allowed pride to derail him. I first took him to Enyimba and he was the one who started their feeders team.
“He then became my head coach at Vejle Football Academy in Lagos and he helped us to stabilise the team. We even travelled together to Denmark and Germany, after which he willingly came back home.
“I am so sad that he died at a young age, when he should have started reaping the fruits of his labour. We can only say God knows best. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
Sports247 gathered further that the one-day memorial carnival, which is also a posthumous birthday celebration for the late coach, who would have clocked 55 on Thursday, will run from 8am to 5pm this Saturday at FHA Stadium, FESTAC Town, Lagos.
