Chukwueze Tags Moses Simon ‘Big Brother’

Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze has labeled Levante winger, Moses Simon as his ‘big brother’ in the Super Eagles, sequel to support he gained from the former KAA Gent of Belgium star at the national team’s camp in Asaba.

Both Spain-based attackers were in the Eagles’ camp with divergent fortunes, as sports247.ng noted that Simon was returning after a spate out with injury, while Chukwueze got his first ever senior call up and eventually starred in his debut against Uganda.

However, while Simon is yet to seal his place back in the Eagles’ starting line-up, mostly due to the emergence of Girondins-Bordeaux winger, Samuel Kalu, her was not wont to shy away from encouraging the younger Chukwueze.

The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation and gold medalist revealed as much, as he was quick to thank Simon for helping him settle down in the senior national team.

Before starting on his Nigeria debut and going on to play the first 45 minutes of the goalless draw with Uganda, the 19-year-old was always with Simon during leisure and training.

Chukwueze has now disclosed that Simon, who was, incidentally, a club mate with Kalu at Gent, played a role in helping him settle down with the Eagles.

The Yellow Submarine rookie disclosed: “Moses Simon was always there for me and I must thank him for the way he took me in like his younger brother, he is my big brother.

“The Super Eagles is like one big family. Everybody is working to help you enjoy yourself in the team.”
