Former Nigeria international Christian Obodo has backed Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle to remain in charge of the national team, while calling for the extension of his contract.
Speaking on the recent progress of the Super Eagles under the Franco-Malian tactician, Obodo admitted Chelle has done well since taking over the team.
“Eric Chelle has done a very good job with the Super Eagles,” Obodo said.
According to the former Nigerian midfielder, the improvements within the team since Chelle’s arrival have been noticeable.
“You can see the positive changes in the team,” he implied.
Obodo stressed that continuity and stability are important if Nigeria hopes to build a stronger national team moving forward.
“He deserves to continue his work with the team,” he noted.
The former Super Eagles player also urged the Nigeria Football Federation to reward the coach with a contract extension.
“I believe his contract should be extended,” he added.
Nigeria remain unbeaten in normal time under Chelle as the team continues rebuilding following recent disappointments.
“The squad appears more organized and competitive now,” many football observers believe.
The Super Eagles have also introduced several new players into the squad during recent international windows.
“There are signs that the team is moving in the right direction,” supporters continue to say.
For Christian Obodo, the message is clear.
Eric Chelle deserves more time.
The Super Eagles are improving steadily.
And stability could help Nigeria build a stronger future.
Because successful football projects require patience, continuity, and long-term planning.
