Chibuike Nwaiwu Won’t Join West Ham Unless Hammers Pay Trabzonspor

All expectations for a summer move by Trabzonspor of Turkey defender, Chibuike Nwaiwu to West Ham United will not see the light of day unless the English Premier League side cough out a princely for his signature.

Sports247 gathered that, although Nwaniwu is ready to make the move, officials at his Turkish Super Lig outfit are not ready to allow him leave for cheap, based on his hugely impressive status.

Nwaiwu has gained a massive leap in his career, with regular action with the Nigerian national team and his star status at Trabzonspor, which he joined at the start of the second half of the past season.

He quickly settled into the club’s mainframe after his arrival from Wolfsberger of Austria in January, following which he scored three goals and provided one assist in 16 league appearances.

Having also helped Trabzonspor lift the Turkish Cup this season, the midstream club rate Nwaiwu very high and the team’s top brass have already rejected two bids from Fulham of England, who wanted to team him up with their Nigerian trio of Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze.

Despite Trabzonspor playing hardball over Nwaiwu’s summer transfer prospects, Bayer Leverkusen of Germany are also monitoring the dreadlocks-wearing centre-back, while West Ham have seen a €30m offer turned down.

A report by Turkish publication, Taka Gazete adds that, with Trabzonspor holding out for at least €35m before considering any deal for Nwaiwu, the prospects of the vastly-improved defender leaving the Super Lig side this summer are very slim.
