Canadian-Based Kunle Tokode Earns Nigeria U-17 National Team Call-Up

Kunle Tokode, a promising winger currently playing for the Vancouver Whitecaps FC BMO Academy in Canada, has been officially invited to join Nigeria’s U-17 national team camp.

The camp, part of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, is scheduled from August 25 to September 6, 2025, in Abuja, Nigeria. This marks Tokode’s second national team call-up, having previously participated in a similar camp in 2024.

At just 15 years old, Tokode’s rapid ascent in the football world is noteworthy.

He joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy in 2022 after a standout performance with Langley United in the BC Soccer Premier League. His technical skills and on-field intelligence have made him a key player in the academy’s U-16 squad.

In a statement expressing his enthusiasm for the opportunity, Tokode said,
