The visitors struck first in the 9th minute through Emile Smith Rowe, who finished calmly after being teed up by Harry Wilson to give Fulham an early advantage. Burnley responded positively and were rewarded in the 21st minute when Lesley Ugochukwu found the net, converting from close range following an assist from Josh Cullen to restore parity.
Fulham, however, regained control midway through the first half. In the 31st minute, Nigerian international Calvin Bassey rose highest from a set-piece situation to head home, once again benefiting from the delivery of Harry Wilson, who was proving influential down the flank.
The London side extended their lead shortly after the break. On 58 minutes, Harry Wilson capped a fine performance with a goal of his own, finishing off a well-worked move created by Samuel Chukwueze to make it 3–1 and put daylight between the two sides.
Burnley refused to go down without a fight and set up a nervy finale when Oliver Sonne struck in the 86th minute, firing in with his left foot to reduce the deficit. Despite late pressure from the hosts, Fulham held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points.
The result sees Fulham continue their push with an impressive away performance, while Burnley will take encouragement from their resilience but rue defensive lapses that proved costly on the night.
