CAF confirmed that Kane, a Senegalese national, will no longer be involved in the disciplinary process surrounding the final, a move widely seen as an effort to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest and preserve the credibility of the investigation.

The AFCON final was overshadowed by crowd disturbances and alleged acts of misconduct following contentious decisions during the match, prompting CAF to launch a formal probe.

The governing body has since been reviewing reports submitted by match officials and security agencies, while some individuals, including supporters, have already faced legal action in connection with the incidents.

Sources within CAF indicate that an alternative senior official will be appointed to oversee the disciplinary proceedings, as the organisation moves to conclude the matter swiftly and decisively. A final ruling, including possible sanctions against those found culpable, is expected in the coming days.

CAF reiterated its commitment to upholding discipline and safeguarding the integrity of African football, stressing that due process and fairness will guide its final decisions on the high-profile case.
