The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed match officials from Uganda and Burundi for Saturday’s crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash between Senegal and Nigeria’s Falconets.

The encounter, which serves as the first leg of the penultimate qualifying round for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, will be handled by Ugandan referee Diana Murungi.
She will be assisted by her compatriots Immaculate Ongiera and Elizabeth Nassolo, while Burundi’s Suavis Iratunga has been named as the fourth official.
CAF has also appointed Ghanaian official Christine Ziga as match commissioner, with Berthe Minka of Gabon assigned as referee assessor for the fixture.
Meanwhile, Senegal’s U-20 women’s national team, the Lionesses de Téranga, have arrived in Nigeria ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.
The Senegalese delegation touched down in Lagos on Tuesday night before proceeding by road to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, which will host the match.
The West African side is expected to hold its first training session on Wednesday evening as preparations intensify for the decisive qualifier.
Saturday’s match marks the first leg of the third-round qualification series, with the aggregate winner set to advance to the final round, where a ticket to the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland will be at stake.
The successful team from the Senegal–Nigeria tie will face the winner of the Guinea-Bissau versus Malawi fixture for one of Africa’s slots at the global tournament.
With both sides eyeing a strong first-leg result, the stage is set for a high-stakes contest as the Falconets look to take a significant step towards another World Cup appearance.
