CAF Champions League: Onyango Urges Gor Mahia To Finish Job In Style

Samuel Onyango has urged Gor Mahia to finish the job in style in CAF Champions League first round against Lobi Stars after a superb 3-1 first leg win away in Kenya.

Gor Mahia started the game brightly with early goals from Jacques Tuyisenge and Samuel Onyango while Samad Kadiri pulled one back for Lobi Stars in the 30th minute. K’Ogalo went into the break leading 3-1 courtesy of Samuel Onyango’s wonder goal.

It left the Kenyan champions in a commanding position ahead of the return leg at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

But rather than rest on our laurels, Onyango want to maintain their high standards as the club looks to seal a place in the group stage.

We have been playing well but the goals were not coming in but in the last two matches, we have clearly shown good improvement. We have really worked hard in training and it is paying off,” Onyango said.

“We are happy we won against Lobi Stars but I think it is not yet time to celebrate. We have to complete the job in Nigeria, it is not over yet.” He added.

The former Ulinzi Stars player also paid credit to the club’s new Head Coach Hassan Oktay.

“We have a new coach and so far so good. He comes in with a different vibe into the team and we are enjoying it so far,” he concluded.

The winner on aggregate will proceed to the CAF Champions League group stage with the loser dropping down to the CAF Confederation Cup play off stage
