WABA West Africa representative, Otunola Bernard has admitted that boxing is always a money-spinning venture to embark upon, as he speaks about various boxing events coming up this year in Nigeria.
CornerWise Entertainment, a boxing promotion company Chairman, Bernard who had a very rough and tough 2020 admitted that boxing events in Nigeria could not hold much last year (2020), due to the issues caused by the Global Pandemic and the difficulties of the previous year, in a chat with Sports247, has stated that boxing has always been a business and that he and his team will aim to work with various brands, so as to give them value for their money. He also stated that boxing is one of the biggest marketing tools, as the like of Anthony Joshua is one of the biggest brand Ambassadors in the world and most especially in Nigeria. He also implored investors and the Government to look inwards into boxing so as to imitate the high brand which Anthony Joshua has set.
“Boxing has always been a money-spinning venture, and this year we are looking at the business side and how we can work with brands, to give them value for their money, because boxing is a big marketing tool, which we know, we can prove and we are working on”.
“If boxing has not been a big marketing tool, the likes of Anthony Joshua will not be the biggest brand ambassadors around the world and especially in Nigeria, and a whole lot of brands will not be tapping into the success of Anthony Joshua to tell a winning story about their own brand”.
“So if they can tap into the success of Anthony Joshua, I will implore our brands to look inwards and tap into our own boxers here in Nigeria”. We should also help promote our own boxers to be one of the biggest Ambassadors of Boxing, not only in Nigeria but also the world”, he added.
The BiG Bernard finally started that 2021 will definitely be a year of Boxing success in Nigeria.
A lot of Boxing events are slated for this year (2021) from the stable of CornerWise Entertainment, which promises to showcase various talented boxers who were discovered and will be managed by Onward Sports.
CornerWise Entertainment and Co have promised to release some massive boxing event in 2021, as it also assured that this year’s boxing events will definitely be a bomb, as great boxers will also be discovered as well, so as to take the glory of Nigerian boxing to the next level.
