The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City will once again become the heartbeat of grassroots athletics in Edo State as the 6th edition of the Eyoto Sports Academy Championship takes center stage on December 8 and 9, 2025.
Organized by Eyoto Sports Academy, a U.S.-based sports development organization with strong Edo heritage, the annual championship continues to strengthen its legacy as one of Nigeria’s most consistent youth athletics programs.

This year’s edition, spearheaded by Dr. Felix Idahosa, President of the Academy and younger brother to the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa, is expected to attract hundreds of young athletes from across the state.
The event will feature elite-level competitions in the 100m, 400m, and Hammer Throw — with cash prizes and scholarships up for grabs for outstanding performers.
Dr. Idahosa emphasized Eyoto’s mission to nurture talent and transform lives through sports and education.
“At Eyoto, we believe in creating opportunities that inspire young athletes to reach their full potential, both on and off the track,” he said.
The Eyoto Executive Council — comprising Festus Idahosa Erese (Vice President), Sonny Okundolor (Secretary), and Friday Enoye (Treasurer) — has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a well-organized, impactful, and competitive event.
Speaking ahead of the championship, Mr. Enoye revealed that the 2025 edition will raise the bar in terms of structure, participation, and logistics, ensuring a memorable experience for both athletes and spectators.
With 20 track and field events (10 for boys and 10 for girls), the Eyoto Sports Academy Championship remains a vital platform for discovering and developing the next generation of athletic stars — continuing its tradition of excellence and social impact in Edo State.
Benin City is set for another exciting showcase of raw talent, determination, and sportsmanship — as Eyoto Sports Academy continues to light the path for future champions.
