BDFA: Badagry United Shock Roro FC To Win Badagry League Title

Badagry United Football Club against all odd surprised the bookmakers following their scintillating performance against Roro FC from Ojo Local government in the final of the RAK Badagry Divisional Football Association BDFA League.

The much anticipated BDFA League final was held yesterday at the French Village, Ajara Badagry. The high soaked tension tie witnessed thousand of spectators as both teams gave a good account of themselves.

Both teams missed some scoring chances as fans were delighted with the football artistry of both sides.

Segun Roland’s super goal broke the hearts of Rofo FC fans who came in large numbers all the way from Ojo.

The Effort by Roro FC to draw the game could not materialize as Badagry United were good in defense. Badagry United who won the encounter with a lone goal were not given a chance to reach the final stage as the community-based club shamed their critics who downplayed them at the beginning of the league.

Reacting to this historic victory, Badagry United coach, Bola Ajiwo confessed that it was a tough game but thanked goodness that his team came out victorious.

He revealed that what worked for his team was the determination and tactical discipline of the players both on and off the pitch.

“It was a hard-fought victory for us because my players showed resilience and doggedness to give their opponent a tough game. Both teams played well but we were the better side today. I use this medium to dedicate this victory to God and the club management, coaching crew, players, and our fans who have been with us since the competition started,” he said.

Roro captain, Akpororo said he was disappointed with the result saying that both teams deserved to play in the final.

“I am disappointed that we did not win Badagry League. We have come a long way unfortunately we lost to our opponents. However, both teams gave their best but our opponents were lucky to have run away with the victory,” he said.

In his own comment, Chairman Badgry DFA, Kayode Mobee expressed gratitude to God and organizing members for the success of the league. He also thanked the title sponsor, RAK FOUNDATION for its commitment and dedication to grassroots football in Badagry and its environs.
