Bayelsa United Set for Squad Overhaul as NPFL26 Preparations Begin June 28

Bayelsa United are set to begin preparations for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Saturday, June 28, with a squad shake-up likely on the horizon.

Club official Tarila Okorowanta confirmed the resumption date during a media briefing on Wednesday, revealing that the Prosperity Boys’ technical crew will immediately begin player assessments upon return from the off-season break.

“The team is currently on break and will reconvene on June 28 to begin preparations for the 2025/2026 season,” Okorowanta stated. “It is when the team regroups that the technical crew will determine those to be retained and those to be recruited, based on the team’s requirements.”

Bayelsa United, who finished 11th in the just-concluded NPFL campaign and crashed out of the President Federation Cup in the Round of 16, are expected to make significant adjustments to strengthen their squad ahead of a more competitive 2025/26 season.

The Yenagoa-based club will be hoping for a more consistent run in the new campaign as they target a stronger league finish and deeper cup contention.
