Bayelsa Teqball Team Ready for National Championship in Abia

The Bayelsa State Teqball Association says its contingent is fully prepared to depart Yenagoa for Aba, Abia State, ahead of the 2025 National Teqball Championship scheduled to hold from October 15 to 18 at the prestigious Aba Sports Club.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure, head coach Mr. Akwasa Wayoyo expressed confidence in his players’ abilities, noting that the team’s intensive training sessions have positioned them to take on any opponent at the national event.

“Our players have trained hard and shown great commitment. With the quality we have, Bayelsa will be a force to reckon with at this year’s championship,” Wayoyo assured.

The leader of the delegation and chairman of the Bayelsa State Teqball Association, Hon. Uroh Kiani, also charged the players to give their best and make the state proud. He commended the Bayelsa State Government for its consistent support for sports development over the years.

“We are grateful to Governor Senator Douye Diri, his deputy Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, and the Commissioner for Sports Dr. Daniel Igali for their continuous investment in sports. Their support has made our preparations seamless,” Kiani stated.

The championship, which will feature events in men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles, will see participation from several states including Abia, Niger, Ondo, Jigawa, Rivers, Oyo, Anambra, Delta, Imo, Enugu, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Edo, Kwara, Bayelsa, Plateau, and Kogi.
