Bayelsa Queens Cruise Past ASKO to Secure WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Semi-Final Spot

Bayelsa Queens FC booked their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers with a commanding 3-0 win over ASKO FC of Togo on Tuesday evening, Sports247 reports.

The breakthrough came in the 47th minute when ASKO defender Oumou Bani turned the ball into her own net under pressure from the Bayelsa Queens attack.

That early second-half lead boosted the confidence of the Nigerian side, who piled more pressure on their Togolese opponents.

Just six minutes later, winger Alaba Olabiyi doubled the advantage with a fine finish, rewarding the Queens’ relentless attacking play.

The victory was sealed in the 80th minute when forward Shakirat Moshood found the back of the net, putting the game completely out of ASKO’s reach.

It was a comprehensive performance from Bayelsa Queens, who not only scored three goals but also kept a clean sheet, thanks to their disciplined defensive organization.

The result ensures that the Prosperity Girls, as they are fondly called, advance confidently into the semi-finals with momentum on their side.

Midfield general Vera Samuel was voted Player of the Match after an outstanding performance in the middle of the park.

She dictated play, broke up ASKO’s attacks, and provided the energy and composure that allowed Bayelsa Queens to dominate proceedings from start to finish.

With qualification secured, Bayelsa Queens will now turn their attention to the semi-final clash, where they will look to continue their push for a spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League proper.
