Bankers Cup Soccer Competition Ends Sunday

This year’s final of the annual Bankers’ Cup soccer competition will hold on Sunday, as five-time champions, United Bank of Africa (UBA) take on former winners, Fidelity Bank at Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Yaba, Lagos.

 

 

The third place match will feature FCMB trading tackles with Union Bank, after which the soccer final will hold alongside events in other sports.

The grand finale will include 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay finals and a novelty match between Page Financials and Corporate Nigeria Hall of Famers.

To reach this stage, UBA went up against FCMB in a close contest but goals from Yemi Lawal and Uche Akonu booked UBA’s first final appearance since 2014.

The second match saw reigning champions Fidelity Bank battle Union Bank for the last final spot and booked their fourth consecutive final appearance.

Fidelity Bank’s Tobi Ayodokun scored the opener before Mark Emeji scored a screamer to help his side scale through against The Stallions.

The semi-finals was graced by Divisional Head, Internal Control Compliance, Fidelity Bank Desmond Anumkua; Group Head, Human Resources, FCMB , Kola Musa; as well as Head Sales & Distribution, Union Bank, Muyiwa Ebitanmi.

Others present were PM Compliance Unit, Union Bank, Frances Diribe as well as Hall of Fame top personalities of the competition, Eric Iruh and Theo Amadi.
