Ballers’ Empire FC Crowned Champions in Maiden Ago Iwoye Street Football Competition

Ballers’ Empire FC have etched their name in history as the first champions of the Ago Iwoye Street Football Competition after securing a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Computer Village FC in Sunday’s final at the Ago Iwoye City Stadium.

The grassroots tournament, sponsored by Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majed Adesegun—popularly known as Attacker—drew a large turnout of football fans, community leaders, and sports administrators, all united by a desire to promote youth engagement and street football culture.

The decisive moment of the final came from the tournament’s standout striker, Anari James, who finished as top scorer with an impressive 10 goals in six matches. His lone strike proved enough to hand Ballers’ Empire FC the coveted trophy.

Earlier in the day, Ijesha Road FC cruised to a commanding 5–0 win over Abobi Street FC to claim the bronze medal, showcasing the competition’s high level of talent and intensity.

Individual excellence was also celebrated, with Kazeem Akeem of Oke Ita Street FC named Best Coach, while Ballers’ Empire FC’s Ashiru Tunde earned the Best Goalkeeper award after conceding just two goals all tournament. Abobi Street FC received the Fair Play Award, and Omosuyi Juwon of Ijesha Road FC was voted the Most Valuable Player.

In his closing remarks, sponsor Rt. Hon. Abdel-Majed Adesegun praised the teams for their commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship, describing the tournament as a platform for discovering future stars and strengthening community unity.

The maiden edition sets a promising tone for the future of grassroots football in Ago Iwoye, with expectations already rising for an even bigger competition next year.
