The newly re-elected president of Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Barrister Francis Orbih has promised that he and his board members will raise the bar in order to excel during his renewed tenure in office.
Sports247 reports that Orbih gave the pledge shortly after his reelection was confirmed by officials of the National Sports Commission (NSC), who also gave the BFN’s 15-member board a fresh target to achieve.

The NSC’s director-general, Honourable Bukola Olopade pointed out that the main focus of the current dispensation in Nigeria’s sports leadership is youth development and charged Orbih to ensure his tenure supports that mission.
Olopade added, “I have looked intently at the composition of this board and I have no doubt in my mind that you will do well. In here are people of proven track record in sports which is what we have been advocating for.
“I can see people here who have a passion for the development of the sport. That is a key ingredient to grassroots sports development which is at the core of what we are doing in the Commission.”
Orbih responded with a pledge to do much better during his new tenure than he did in the previous one and then thanked the NSC’s leadership for the support they have accorded badminton since their emergence in office.
“Badminton has received immense support since you assumed office in the commission and this is reflected on the results the country’s various badminton teams are churning in. We are going to raise the bar this time around.
“After the election, I felt a heavy weight on me. When you mentioned the debt, it even makes the weight heavier. With your usual support, no doubt we will continue from where we stopped,” Orbih enthused.
