Nigeria’s Rosemary Chigozie began her African Youth Games campaign in emphatic fashion, winning Heat 2 of the Girls’ 100m in 11.88s to post the second-fastest time across all qualifiers on Day 1 in Angola.

Ghana’s rising star, Comfort Mensah, emerged as the overall fastest sprinter of the round after dominating Heat 3 in 11.83s, setting up what promises to be a thrilling West African showdown in the semifinals and final.
Morocco’s Maria Saadi also impressed the home crowd, clocking 12.04s to edge South Africa’s Oluchi Ndubueze (12.12s) for victory in Heat 1.
With Chigozie and Mensah leading the field, the battle for the Girls’ 100m title is shaping up to be one of the marquee contests of the Games, as athletes jostle for continental bragging rights and youth supremacy.
