Super Falcons captain Rita Chikwelu has stated that the team is blessed in all departments and stand a good chance of retaining the Africa Women Cup of Nations title and also book one of the tickets for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
The Damallsvenskan club Kristianstads DFF of Sweden midfielder also agreed with the final selection of players for the championship in Ghana by coach of the team Thomas Dennerby noting that the attack, midfield and defense are blessed with talented players including good goalkeepers which in turn will help the team achieve its aim of winning the championship.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons are in group B and will slug it out with emerging women football powerhouse South Africa, Zambia and two time AWCON champion Equatorial Guinea in the group stage for a place in the semi final of the competition.
The AWCON will hold in Ghana from November 17 to December 1st with the Falcons scheduled to play her first match against South Africa’s Bayana Bayana on Sunday November 18.
