AWCON 2018: Equatorial determined to play for pride

Equatorial Guinea Women team Coach, Mr. Jean-Paul Mpila says the team is out of the African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) but will give the Super Falcons a good fight tomorrow.

Speaking at the Pre match Press Conference, Mpila said he was going to play for pride and hope the Nzlang Nacionale get their first win of the competition against Nigeria.

“We have our last match to play tomorrow and we are out of here. I will say that we are out of the competition, but concerning tomorrow’s match we are going to play for pride.”

“As I always say we never give up until it’s 90 minutes, we never declare the winner until the referee blows the whistle, so we are preparing for the match and we playing until it’s full time.”

The Nzalang Nacionale coach who was recently appointed said he’s not under pressure of losing his job as his objective is to secure a better future of the team.

“My objective for this team is to secure the future, you have seen the team perform this time compared to the old team.”

“It’s a two-way thing. At first we all knew Equatorial Guinea Women team to be one of the forces in Africa but now we see it’s not going the way we want. One of my aims for this team is to bring back the glory.”

Equatorial Guinea who have won the AWCON on two occasions will be hoping to bank on the experience of Captain Genevova Anonman Nze, who has been in the team since 2008 to overcome the Super Falcons tomorrow at the Cape Coast Stadium.
