Bayana Bayana of South Africa forward Jermaine Seoposenwe has stated that their ultimate aim in the final is to lift the trophy and also show that their group stage victory over Nigeria’s Super Falcons was not a fluke.

Seoposenwe who has been instrumental for the South Africans during the campaign in Ghana believes facing the Falcons will not be an easy task but if the team can withstand the early threats from the Falcons and play to their strength, they will take the day. “I think facing Nigeria is going to be a very tough one. For us we are ready to lay everything on the line. I think it is going to be a little bit more difficult especially from the first game they played and lost, they are going to come out and revenge the loss and for us we just have to take that first wave of their onslaught.

They are going to come out and try to bully us with the ball and try to play their own brand of football but if we can stay through to what we have been doing which is moving the ball quickly, being there for each other, fighting for each other, and it is also going to take a selfless approach we will take the day. I think it’s going to be a little bit more difficult than the first game just because it’s a final, there’s a lot more emotions for us it’s going to be good if we calm down a little bit earlier in the game and maybe an early goal can do that for us.”

The South African team defeated the Falcons 1 – 0 in the group opener and Seoposenwe believes they are out to prove that it was no accident. “We are ready to go up against Nigeria to show them that it wasn’t a fluke when we beat them in the first game. We played well and deserved the win. We don’t really need a lot of motivation to play against Nigeria, what motivates us is that we want to be history makers, do something no other team has done. We got what we wanted which is qualifying for the World Cup and I think winning the tournament is a goal we also want to win.”

If we play with a lot of passion I don’t think there’s a lot of team that can stop us. Nigeria is going to come all out and if we don’t take them serious enough thinking we have qualified for the world cup then they can snatch the trophy from our hands. If we take this game as focused as we were since the start of the tournament then i think we can win it.”
