Asisat Oshoala Scores First Goal In Saudi Arabia, As Mentor Hails Her Move To Al-Hilal

Accolades are rolling the way of Nigerian female football star, Asisat Amina Oshoala, following her goal that helped Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia seal a 3-0 victory over NEOM, Sports247 reports.

Oshoala, who officially joined Al-Hilal from Bay FC of USA on September 2nd, struck in the 85th minute of Friday’s match at Inaya Medical College Stadium to record her first goal since moving to the oil rich Middle East nation.

Her bright start to life at Al-Hilal has given more credence to Oshoala’s decision in making the switch from USA to Saudi Arabia, a transfer that Coach Emmanuel Osahon, her mentor and owner of FC Robo Queens of Lagos, the first club she played for, described as a very smart development.

Coach Osahon affirmed, “Going to Saudi Arabia for somebody like Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, and others is to promote them as developers.

“It does not retard their performance but, enhances development for Saudi Arabian football. It also adds value to the players’ pockets and it’s easy to settle down there.”

The smooth-talking youth developer cum club financier concluded by praising Oshoala and some other Super Falcons’ players for agreeing to be part of the massive expansion that Saudi Arabia is giving their growing impact on global football.

“The way the Saudis are doing their thing, they want to meet up with European standards. That’s why they are employing tested and known players.

“That is also why Oshoala and her likes are moving there. It’s a good choice for them, and it’s a good move,” Osahon stressed..

Sports247 gathered that Oshoala’s move to Al-Hilal is the fifth high-profile transfer the former FC Robo Queens of Lagos and Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt attacker would make in her career.

Oshoala, who will be 31 on October 9th, had previously played for Arsenal Queens and Liverpool Ladies of England earlier in her budgeoning days.

She then netted 23 goals in 20 matches with Dalian Quanjian of China (2017-2019), 92 goals in 108 games with Barcelona of Spain (2019-2024) and eight goals in 31 games for Bay FC (2024-2025)
