Ambode Relives His Experience While Playing Cricket

Lagos State governor, Akinwunnmi Ambode has relived the pleasure and experience he gained while playing cricket as a secondary school student, sports247.ng reports.

Ambode took his mind back in time during a ceremony to receive the Cricket World Cup trophy, which was in Lagos as part of a global tour of major cities ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

With the trophy making a stop in Nigeria’s commercial capital, ahead of the championship scheduled for the United Kingdom in June, Ambode had the pleasure of receiving it at Lagos State House, Alausa, Ikeja.

The trophy arrived in Nigeria through Abuja on Monday before moving to Lagos yesterday.
Ambode said he was pleased that International Cricket Council (ICC) chose Lagos State to join the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in receiving the prized silverware in Nigeria.

He added: “It is indeed an honour to be the only governor to host the Trophy in the country
“I think a lot of people don’t understand cricket deeply because it has a lot of values that can be learnt from it.
“As a former Cricketer, which I played way back in secondary school, I appreciate the game and I look forward to seeing more young people learn from the game.”
