Former Bendel Insurance and Super Eagles goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie, continues to hold the record for the most clean sheets in a single Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, nearly a year after setting the remarkable feat.
Obasogie etched his name into NPFL history books during the 2023/24 season, when he recorded 18 clean sheets in 35 appearances, a performance that played a key role in Bendel Insurance’s strong defensive campaign.

Now, with the 2024/25 NPFL season entering its final stages, several goalkeepers are hot on his trail but have yet to surpass his record.
Leading the clean sheet race this season is Mustapha Lawal of Shooting Stars (3SC), who has amassed 16 clean sheets, just two shy of Obasogie’s all-time mark.
Close behind are Jimoh Lucky (Rangers), Serge Obasa (Remo Stars), and Osagie Onisodumeya (Rivers United)—each with 15 clean sheets to their names. Nurudeen Badmus of Kwara United is also in contention with 14 shutouts so far.
As the season nears its conclusion, all eyes are on these top-performing goalkeepers to see if any of them can match or eclipse Obasogie’s milestone.
Regardless of what unfolds, Amas Obasogie’s legacy as a standout shot-stopper remains firmly intact—at least for now.
