Amas Obasogie, Morice Chukwu’s Singida Black Stars FC Crowned Champions of Cecafa Kagame Cup After Defeating Al-Hilal SC

Sudan giants Al Hilal SC face Singida Black Stars FC in the final of the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 on Monday. The two sides eased their opponents at the semi final stage on Saturday at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Al Hilal SC revenged against Rwanda’s APR FC who defeated them at the same stage last year. The Sudan Premier League champions stopped APR FC 3-1, while Singida Black Stars FC defeated KMC FC 2-0 in the second semi-final clash.

Both goals for Singida Black Stars were scored by attacking midfielder Maestro Clatous Chota Chama Zambian playmaker Clatous Chama scored a brace to lift his new club to a historical milestone in their brief nine-year history. The arrival from fellow Tanzanian club Young Africans opened the scoring in the 19th minute with a low finish and his second goal arrived close to the hour mark from an Andy Koffi cross to make the difference in Dar es Salaam.

Abdel Raouf equalized for Al Hilal in the 31st minute but the Sudanese club, also featuring some new signings, struggled to show their best form throughout the tournament.

Winning the CECAFA Kagame Cup represents a statement of intent from Singida Black Stars, who begin play in the CAF Confederation Cup this coming weekend when they face Rwanda’s Rayon Sports in the first leg from their first qualifying round clash.

The tournament sponsored by Betika kicked off with 12 teams taking part. Singida Black Stars will bag a cash prize of US$30,000 and gold medals, while the runner-up Al-Hilal SC takes US$20,000 and silver medals, and the third placed US$10,000 and bronze medals. Rwanda President, Paul Kagame has been providing the cash prize.
